"Look, you put anyone in a life or death situation
and the heightened time of the moment changes you forever.
Those of us who didn't die then, died later or are crazy.
There's no getting away clean from here."

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
JUDIE STEIN

Having never been to war but having demonstrated against it, Judie was curious when she met someone who described himself as a “grunt” in the Army during the Vietnam war.  Interested in learning what he had gone through, she was inspired by his graphic recounting.  This led her to investigate others who had been in a war that affected so many people stateside as well as those who served.

Finding correspondence from various men who had been to Vietnam she saw a strong contrast between the enlisted, the drafted and the volunteers. For those of us who never had to carry a gun for protection or dodge bullets and bombs, the intent of this production is to create the experience of war through the magic of live theatre so when leaving the safety of the play, one will still carry the feelings of war and how it can affect the privileged and underprivileged.

The use of dancers and music is to underscore the emotional fourth dimension of those exposed to an environment where survival or death might be imminent. The goal is to expose a safe experience that enhances knowledge and sensitivity.
